Disaster Anthropology Consulting Group was established to help address the complex dilemmas associated with disaster. As anthropologists we have a uniquely broad scope that allows us to understand and address the multidimensional causes and consequences of disaster. Disasters are increasingly affecting the lives of many around the world, especially the most vulnerable in society. United Way of Central Washington

United Way of Central Washington is a local organization, serving Yakima and Kittitas counties. We're committed to using donations wisely, locally and effectively to make a positive difference in the lives of people in our community, creating a healthier community for us all. Last year, our partner agencies served more than 130,000 people, more than 1 in 3! Help comes in many forms, and our system of caring helps people from birth to senior, families and individuals get the support and tools they need to live better lives. More than 17,000 people throughout our community support United Way each year, and give countless hours to serving our region. During the 2019-2020 campaign United Way of Central Washington raised nearly $1.3 million in support of the community. These funds were distributed by a group of 50 community volunteers and will support more than 60 programs at 54 local non-profits that have efficient and effective programs. With your help, United Way has the unique ability, individually and collectively, to achieve broad civic goals that no single donor, citizen, nonprofit or charity could accomplish alone. Dedicated community volunteers provide the leadership. Caring partner agency staff members provide the support. It's a winning combination!

District Civic Labs

We believe that organizers shouldn't have to start from scratch. When you're trying to get the word out, you shouldn't have to learn how AWS works. If you want to accept donations, you shouldn't have to hire an accountant. We provide organizers and civic hackers with both bureaucratic know-how and nuts-and-bolts tech tools so they can get right to work. The District is full of great people with great ideas. We are lucky to know a few of them, but there are countless more. We serve as a convener, making connections to bring like-minded people together, to match complementary skills, or to develop ideas through human-centered research and design. Creating and maintaining a 501(c)(3) is not a trivial task, but it can be essential for receiving the donations that are a key part of a project's existence. We've jumped through those hoops, and want to share the benefits with other like-minded groups, both formal and informal, that share the purpose outlined in our articles of incorporation.

The Clifford House

The Clifford House is an organization that serves at-risk youth in metropolitan DC through physical and life-skills training, and meaningful counseling. It was officially established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2016 after serving the local community for 17 years through the efforts of founder Anthony "Tony" Bell and local volunteers. In 2000, Tony started The Clifford House in honor of his son who was viciously gunned down in the streets of DC a year before. Clifford's immediate death devastated his family, but it eventually motivated them to build something to help keep other families from experiencing a similar tragedy. The Clifford House's mission is to provide on and off-site trainers, instructors, and counselors to support community youth and their families in social, academic, and athletic performance. Our various training modules are designed to work in conjunction with area schools, churches, and other organizations to teach our children and their families to work toward their goals and aspirations while ignoring the distracting—and far too often harmful—outside influences.
