CASA Sacramento

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Sacramento County, a private 501(c)3 nonprofit, was founded to serve the thousands of abused and neglected children in Sacramento who come before the Juvenile Court for protection. CASA provides trained volunteers who act as a role model, support person and an advocate in court. Advocates provide consistent, long-term support to needy Sacramento children.

Karin dom - Service provider for children with special needs and their families

Karin dom is an active civil organization, based in Varna, Bulgaria, with a leading role in providing professional social, health and educational services for children with special needs and their families for 20 years now. The mission of Karin dom is to support the social inclusion of children with special needs and their families through professional services, advocacy, raising public awareness. The main activities are realized by a centre for providing services for children with special needs and their families, by a resource and training centre and by Department for early intervention. We work with children with physical, mental and multiple disabilities, with Autism spectrum disorders, with behavioral problems and learning difficulties. The team consists of special teachers, social workers, physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists, music therapists, who work together with children and their families in both individual and group sessions. In 2010 Karin dom launched its Early Intervention Program – interdisciplinary coordinated service in support of families of infants and children aged 0-3 who have concerns about their child's development. https://karindom.org/en/early-intervention/ - Since our establishment in 1996 til the end of 2016 more than 1900 children and their families have used the services of Karin dom. The children which have been integrated in mainstream kindergartens and schools are about 220. - The number of trained specialists and parents to this moment exceeds 2,300. - Over 1,800 students are introduced to the activities of Karin Dom since our establishment. - Over 470 are the volunteers from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Germany, England, USA, France, Japan, Holland, Cyprus, etc., which contribute to our cause. - For the past 4 years we have provided 136 consultations to parents on prevention of abandonment of infants born with disabilities, as an extension to our Early Intervention Program.

INCIGHT

INCIGHT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that cultivates societal inclusion and contribution of individuals living with barriers and dependency. We support people with key life aspects of education, employment, independence, coaching and Handicrap™. INCIGHT assists this community through targeted initiatives that reach thousands of individuals every year. Portland native Scott Hatley, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD); Vail Horton, a congenital amputee, entrepreneur and founder of Keen Healthcare; and their colleague, Jerry Carleton, established INCIGHT in 2004 with the mission—"Unlocking the Potential of People with Disabilities." After more than a decade, INCIGHT's renewed mission is "Unlocking the Potential of People." This far-reaching goal does not imply that our focus has strayed from support of the Disability Community. It represents our ever-growing efforts to raise awareness that people with barriers offer the same valuable and necessary contribution to society as everyone else, when we eliminate stigma surrounding this community. Co-founder, Vail Horton trademarked the term "Handicrap" and defines it as a limiting belief adopted as reality and an unfair judgment based on perception. These components fuel society's stigma toward people with barriers and dependency. We have proven that when we foster familiarity, we remove the fear that breeds prejudgment, discrimination and exclusion. In early 2018, we launched the Scott W. Hatley Endowment through the Oregon Community Foundation. It demonstrates our conservative discipline as we expand our influence and reach to the future. We envision INCIGHT becoming Oregon's leader of inclusion and contribution for individuals with barriers. We expect our constituents to become the best version of themselves and empower them to demand their participation in society. We can ALL improve the lives of people with barriers and enable them to attain higher education, employment and independence through cultural change.

Vision Quilt

Our Mission: --Empower communities to create their own solutions to gun violence through the power of art and inclusive dialogue. --Organize workshops and exhibitions throughout the country, encouraging dialogue that focuses on solutions to prevent gun violence. --Help build consensus that will prevent gun violence and foster safe families, safe neighborhoods and safe towns. Our Vision: The Vision Quilt will create a national network of supporters cultivating compassionate, nonviolent change through the making and exhibiting of quilt panels created by thousands of people across the country. As participants from diverse backgrounds, including gun owners, engage in dialogue, a new culture will emerge that will lead to improvements in gun safety, including new legislation, mental health laws, police training and public education. The Vision Quilt panels will be displayed as a "virtual quilt" online and in exhibitions across the country where it will be shared with millions. Our members are teachers, business owners, parents, artists, social workers, journalists, retirees and gun owners. In fact, our first panels were created by gun owners. We bring years of experience in working with public schools, universities, nonprofits and social justice causes.
