Halesite Fire Department

The Halesite Volunteer Fire Department is located in Suffolk County, New York (Long Island). Our Department is 100% volunteer, consisting of more than 80 members. We have proudly served the Halesite and surrounding community since 1901. When fire, disaster or medical emergency strikes, you take it for granted that your call for help will be answered. And it will be...… but only because there are volunteers who willingly contribute their time & energy to keeping the Halesite community safe.

Youth Mentoring Initiative

Local non-profit, YMI - Youth Mentoring Initiative, has been serving the Fishers community, in partnership with Hamilton Southeastern Schools, since 2008. YMI partners with our schools to come alongside counselors, teachers, and parents by providing another caring adult to support and encourage the success of each student. YMI Mentors are adult volunteers that mentor once a week, for one hour, during the school day. Mentors meet one-on-one with students to provide them with a caring and consistent presence in their lives; become a reliable friend; a role model; and simply someone they can count on. Founded on the knowledge that kids need 4-6 non-parental adults supporting them through their developmental years, mentoring can have a profound impact on a child's life! YMI mentors are a vital resource not only to HSE Schools initiatives to further the social and emotional well-being of their students but also to parents looking for additional support. Every week, approximately 300 mentors visit students in Fishers schools, offering encouragement and being an example of why Fishers continues to excel in the quest for a vibrant community! YMI mentoring is currently offered in the following nine schools: Fall Creek Intermediate, Fall Creek Junior High, Fishers Junior High, Fishers High School, Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate Junior High, Hamilton Southeastern High School, Riverside Intermediate, Riverside Junior High, Sand Creek Intermediate. YMI is changing the world, one student at a time.

Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota

It is the mission of the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota to provide information, resources and support to individuals with Down syndrome, their families and their communities. The Association is composed of some 3,000 members; more than 900 people with Down syndrome, their families and friends, plus health-care, education and developmental professionals. We are the only organization in our region devoted exclusively to the needs of people with Down syndrome and their families. We are funded through memberships, private and corporate donations and various fund-raising events. As a result, all services are available to members throughout Minnesota and neighboring states at no cost. The Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota is affiliated with the National Down Syndrome Congress, National Down Syndrome Society and PACER

Michigan Community Action

Michigan Community Action (MCA) is the association for the 28 Community Action Agencies (CAAs) in Michigan which provide multiple human service programs in all 83 counties throughout the state. For more than 40 years, MCA has served as an advocate for low income individuals and families. We promote solutions to poverty and promote community and economic development. Michigan CAAs are the largest human service network outside of the state government. We are committed to economic opportunity for all.
