DC Design is a social impact design firm. We use Human Centered Design to help solve the world’s biggest problems. Our work includes redesigning aspects of the foster care system alongside nonprofits and business collaborators, partnering with governments to develop and implement strategies for reducing jail recidivism, consulting architects, physicians and nurses on designing optimal emergency departments, and developing award-winning educational programs to address challenges around physical disability. Our specialty is in multi-stakeholder design, which involves understanding the needs of diverse groups of people, finding key points of agreement, and identifying opportunities to create novel solutions to the challenges those stakeholders face. Our consulting services, educational design workshops, and products are aimed at creating a lasting positive impact on society and helping others do the same. At our core is the belief that those who experience a problem first hand should play a central role in solving it. We teach business and non-profit leaders, government officials, entrepreneurs, and students how to unlock the creativity they never knew they had by applying the same principles we use every day. Those we work with and train through our design process develop the insights needed to identify and solve the world’s most challenging problems.

San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council

The San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council is the local central body affiliate of the AFL-CIO founded in 1891. We represent 200,000 working families across San Diego & Imperial Counties. At the Labor Council, we believe that ALL workers deserve a voice on the job. Together, we fight for higher wages and quality healthcare, housing that is affordable and equal pay for equal work. We represent workers from a wide variety of industries and professions who want a seat at the negotiating table and in the halls of power. We are firefighters standing with teachers, nurses and construction tradespeople standing with home healthcare aides, and professors standing with hotel workers. We are grocery workers walking shoulder to shoulder with truck drivers, hospital techs, janitors and zoo employees. Our power is in our ability to come together and fight for one another, and for all working people.

National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (NAPALSA)

NAPALSA is the national organization representing Asian Pacific American law students since 1981. Our mission is to provide a national voice for APA law students, foster professional and personal development, and advocate for the dignity of our communities. We work closely with legal and affinity organizations across communities. NAPALSA is committed to inclusion and representing the diversity of the APA legal community.

food for thought

Food For Thought is a nonprofit organization that provides lifesaving nutrition support to low-income people living with COVID-19, HIV and other serious illnesses across Sonoma County. For more than 30 years, we have engaged in service to our community to provide healthy food to our neighbors in need. A group of friends in Guerneville founded FFT in 1988 amidst the AIDS epidemic to provide groceries to our seriously ill neighbors. Over time, we have shifted our focus from providing end-of-life care to providing comprehensive nutrition services, and we have expanded our eligibility to those affected by a wide range of serious medical conditions. Food for Thought provides weekly groceries including fresh produce, whole grains, and healthy protein; vitamins and supplements and nutrition education. We deliver Sonoma county-wide to clients who are homebound or homeless.

Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)

Representing more than 25,000 members across the province, OACETT is the professional association that promotes the interests of engineering and applied science technicians and technologists to industry, educational institutions, the government and the public. OACETT is Ontario’s independent certifying body for engineering and applied science technicians and technologists. Members hold one of the following designations: C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist), C.Tech. (Certified Technician) or A.Sc.T. (Applied Science Technologist).
