DYL - Define Your Life

DYL is a platform to experiment and learn about Transformable Design, Design research, Branding, Marketing, Communication, Production and more... DYL's vision is far from the positions of the current brands. DYL is defined as part of a new wave for which thought, research, products and customer relationships exceed the requirements of the official fashion calendar. Thus DYL wants to propose its research to other brands by collaborating with them. The human being and the principle of a “Transformable” process lie at the core of my design research. The heart of my professional project is to create “Transformable” clothing and accessories, which simplify our everyday life and provide enjoyment, as well as protection and functionality. I wish to foster a new relation to garments to free them from the sole functions of utility, image and gender, by allowing the individual to play with them to take on various new short-lived and reversible aesthetics. This research was undertaken over the last years through DYL - Define Your Life.

Fred Butler is a London based creative known for occupying the space between fashion, art and craft, her blog Fred Butler Style has become a spotlight into London’s creative community. As well as showing her pioneering accessory collections during London Fashion Week she has created iconic bespoke pieces for some of the 21st centuries biggest artists. A unique approach to colour and shape has lead to prop-styling and set design projects including Vogue Italia and The Sunday Times Style. Her many collaborations have included some of the world’s best loved brands including Swatch, Nike, Samsung, MTV, Barbie and Red Bull.

Raised and stimulated in a highly creative environment, Carlotta has always been pushed to cultivate and nurture her creativity. After completing a diploma in pattern cutting and figure drawing in Bologna she moved to England and begun study at the Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design on a BA Fashion Print pathway. Carlotta Actis Barone brand was born on January 2010, when she was scouted by fashion agency Fashion Mode, which funded her collection and shows with Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Carlotta Actis Barone style is influenced by contemporary issues. Political and social matters are always the starting point of her collections and they come to life through symbols, shapes and slogans. Press has commonly referred to her as ‘a very distinguished designer’ with reference to the messages behind the collections. The wearer becomes a representation of femininity as well as the carrier of a message. The fashion weeks she attended so far are for the seasons: S/S 2011, A/W 2011-12, S/S 2012, A/W 2012-13.
