‘Carmen Woods’ is a luxury leather handbag label. We create designs that are beautiful, interesting and wearable, with a true artisan identity. Our label reflects on the time Carmen spent in Ravenna, Italy, working as a fashion designer. She drew inspiration from the intricate Byzantine mosaics, which covered the city’s buildings and walkways, eventually using patch work and pleating techniques to express this through her designs. In addition to our core collection, we offer a bespoke service to all clients who wish to adapt existing styles to specifically suit their needs. Our beautiful boutique is based in an original Art Deco building, situated amongst the quirky and charming shops on the Essex coastline of Leigh-on-Sea.

Fred Butler Style

Fred Butler is a London based creative known for occupying the space between fashion, art and craft, her blog Fred Butler Style has become a spotlight into London’s creative community. As well as showing her pioneering accessory collections during London Fashion Week she has created iconic bespoke pieces for some of the 21st centuries biggest artists. A unique approach to colour and shape has lead to prop-styling and set design projects including Vogue Italia and The Sunday Times Style. Her many collaborations have included some of the world’s best loved brands including Swatch, Nike, Samsung, MTV, Barbie and Red Bull.

CARLOTTA ACTIS BARONE

Raised and stimulated in a highly creative environment, Carlotta has always been pushed to cultivate and nurture her creativity. After completing a diploma in pattern cutting and figure drawing in Bologna she moved to England and begun study at the Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design on a BA Fashion Print pathway. Carlotta Actis Barone brand was born on January 2010, when she was scouted by fashion agency Fashion Mode, which funded her collection and shows with Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Carlotta Actis Barone style is influenced by contemporary issues. Political and social matters are always the starting point of her collections and they come to life through symbols, shapes and slogans. Press has commonly referred to her as ‘a very distinguished designer’ with reference to the messages behind the collections. The wearer becomes a representation of femininity as well as the carrier of a message. The fashion weeks she attended so far are for the seasons: S/S 2011, A/W 2011-12, S/S 2012, A/W 2012-13. Carlotta Actis Barone is now preparing her fifth season S/S 2013

Augustus Hare

Why Augustus Hare? Augustus Hare was a Victorian travel writer, art historian and raconteur. The name captures a traditional Englishness as well as a whimsical quality. Our logo of a leaping hare symbolizes what we are all about: beautiful, magical, authentically English and increasingly rare. We create ties that adhere to traditions of meticulous craftsmanship, are classically ‘English’ but occupy a space that is noticeably absent in today’s market: a tie which is neither dull and conservative, nor so flamboyant that the tie wears the man. Our ties are conceived as works of beauty, using a colour palette that is neither plain nor brash, and aims for an elegant playfulness and subtle eccentricity. We are passionate about using English craftsmen. We have sourced woven silk from a mill in Suffolk that was founded by Huguenot artisans in the 1720s and remains run by the same family today. Our printed silk is hand screen printed in Macclesfield, the historic silk centre of the UK, in a mill that has been printing since the Eighteenth Century. Every Augustus Hare product is thoughtful, tactile and hand-touched. Only one category of the handmade English tie has eluded us: the silk knit tie. The tradition of knitted silk began in Italy and has steadfastly remained there. For knit ties (which we love) we have gone to the finest mill in Milan where a former monk presides over the looms. Augustus Hare knit ties, in silk and cashmere, round out our range.
