About
I worked for a number of years within the private health insurance industry and also spent time in New York State government working first for the New York State Department of Education, and then with the New York State Office of Information and Technology Services. Before joining the Office of the Mayor of New York City, I spent three years with the New York State Assembly's Ways and Means Committee, and two years working in the field of government relations, lobbying and consulting for a private firm.
While attending law school, my focus was on public service, human rights, and civil liberties law. I spent my entire second year of law school as a Teaching Fellow in the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Program – lecturing on constitutional law to inner-city high school students and preparing them for a city-wide Moot Court Competition dealing with the issue of life sentencing for minors, without the possibility of parole. Throughout my third year of law school I worked around the cities of Boston and Cambridge as a Student Housing Discrimination Tester for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and I was also an active member of the Boston Initiative to Advance Human Rights. I also worked with the New England Innocence Project (NEIP) in conjunction with an advanced legal writing course, where the class was brought in on an actual case of wrongful conviction with NEIP attorneys. During this period I spent time as a Judicial Clerk in the Dorchester and the Roxbury District Courts in Massachusetts, as a Judicial Intern in the New York State Court of Claims, and as a student of International Comparative Torts and International Human Rights Law at Lund University in Lund, Sweden.
I am a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, with degrees in Psychology and Political Science, and I received my Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. I am admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
