About
I'm a Cyberneticist and teacher of Kung Fu. I serve as the Head of Cybernetics at the Machine Perception Cognitive Robotics Lab. I believe the single most important subject today is Ethical AI, and its implications and applications applied at planetary scale.
I started DOS 3.0 when I was 5, I stuck to computers for 3 decades, during that time I studied many forms of Eastern Martial Arts. The combination of everything allowed me to recognize the overlap between AI and Kung Fu, and I believe I have subsumed both under the paradigm of Operational Cybernetics.
I possess advanced skills in Computer Vision AI, High Availability Distributed Systems, Enterprise Data Software, Blockchain Systems Integration, Network Architecture, Web Development, Quantum Secure Cryptography and Self-Regulating Autonomous Systems for Cloud, IoT, Wireless Edge Devices and Robotics.
My passions are in the philosophy of Control Systems, Neuroscience, Machine Learning, Cyber security and Physical security. My expertise has developed laterally into wide overlapping areas, and I enjoy outsmarting problems and the situations that create them. I'm always interested in improving operational control , and create systems which interconnect and adapt to produce environments that are actually aware of themselves as a system.
Reliability has always been important to me, and I was one of the designers of the first Hybrid Dedicated/Cloud network infrastructures at Rackspace over a decade ago and I still keep up with the latest advances in the design of secure high availability systems such as Kubernetes and Algorand.
I'm happy to have been a part of Code for America, I believe we have a duty to improve our local environments especially in disaster mitigation technology.
I can provide knowledge and help covering nearly all related aspects of: design, development, analysis, security, optimization, testing, simulation, integration, quality assurance, debugging, or just figuring out why a computer is doing whatever it's doing.
I am a polyglot, I code primarily in Erlang/Python/C#, but I've learned many software authoring environments over the years and understand the methodology behind procedural, functional, and object oriented software design. Most importantly I know when to use what. I strive to design systems that I would use, that help the world and are at the very least secure.
