Do your quality problems never seem to get resolved? You chart them, parato them, apply SPC, but the problem goes on and on. It has been written that over 90% of companies in the United States, don’t know how to solve chronic problems. Then on top of the chronic quality issues, companies implement lean. What do you get, more problems at a lower cost? Or, You generate issues faster?
I love solving problems, using modern data-mining technologies to understand the history, the interaction between various inputs, and the performance of the product and individual components. There are only one or two solutions to every problem; you either change the design, improve the process, or sometimes do both. But you need to know what your sources of variation are before you make changes. Ideally, you make your design robust, upfront, before you start building.
