I’m Lilia, an accomplished food retail buying leader with a talent for planning, managing, and sourcing products in line with brand profiles and consumer preferences. During my +20-year career, I have delivered excellence during roles for both FTSE 100 blue-chip companies and start-ups. Currently Head of Buying - Spain & Ireland at WHSmiths, driving the international growth ambitions of the business. Handpicked for a role at the forefront of ambitious international expansion plans, reporting to the International Commercial Director. Accountable for optimising product ranges so that sales, margin, and income targets are attained across key markets in Ireland & Spain. Most recently, I was at the forefront of the buying strategy and vision for the 15-minute grocery delivery app, Yango Deli (part of Yandex). As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I provided key input into business planning and strategy setting. While in the post, I’ve substantially elevated the commercial margin, radically improved store availability at pace, and transformed supply chain processes. Previously I spent 7 years with Tesco, including 5 years as Buying Manager responsible for packaged portfolios with a total spend range of £250-£400m. Latterly I was part of the Global Team, driving forward the Tesco/Carrefour Strategic Alliance Agreement. I have a deep knowledge of food retail strategic sourcing practices and an established network of top global suppliers. With an authentic, values-driven management style, I excel at maximising the potential of individuals, while ensuring company goals are realised.
