I am a thinker, scientist and engineer. I am deeply interested in the following questions: • What are the fundamental laws of nature? • How do intelligence and sentience come into being? • How could we live our lives? While these questions may seem esoteric and philosophical, they are scientific, engineering, and practical questions with broad applications. I am trained in a range of science, mathematics, and engineering disciplines, including physics, mathematics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational neuroscience, economics, game theory, systems engineering and management. I am inspired and carried by thinkers, scientists, artists, and practitioners in various walks of life whose insights and perspectives illuminate some deep truth and beauty of reality. I hold the following to be true: • Nature is governed by a set of laws. • The laws of nature can be understood. • We can create systems that are capable of understanding and creating their own reality. It is my lifelong pursuit to understand the fundamental building blocks and mechanisms that give rise to intelligence, and to leverage the understanding to solve practical problems in work and life. That is, to create systems that can understand and create their own reality, to understand every aspect of reality – intelligence, life, love – as interaction and computation, and to act in accord. As an engineering leader, I lead the design and development of all Verra Mobility’s safety and mobility camera solutions, all of which are intelligent systems that leverage sensors and imaging devices to automatically detect and capture events of interest in the real world, as well as its back office platforms that enable secure and efficient data and transaction processing. As an analytics and business leader, I lead a team of data scientists and engineers leveraging data and advanced analytics to create automated solutions and produce actionable insights to enable the business and customers to make evidence-based decisions. In my spare time I enjoy reading, time with family and friends, and playing Tai Chi.
