About
Jess is a founding partner at Ablaze Collective and creator of DataStory. She is a fintech consultant and investor, previously leading enterprise teams at Intuit Quickbooks (QBO), Wolters Kluwer (CCH), and Ceridian HCM. In her consultancy, Jess built networks of leaders in cloud accounting; partnering with big data and AI experts to demystify advisory services for CPA firms. She has powerful data mining experience in the QBO app ecosystem wherein she lead big data and AI pilots with Google, Microsoft, Tableau, Qlik, and IBM.
Jess collected sandbox data of QBO's global app ecosystem, analyzing more than 500,000 entrepreneurial teams in Canada to identify what made the most successful teams stand out. Using that research she developed the proprietary data mining model DataStory wherein she owns intellectual property rights. Jess’s current portfolio includes top class VCs in Silicon Valley, national CPA firms in Canada, as well as on investments across Canada.
She is one of the few recruiters able to apply a human capital perspective, by utilizing industrial- organizational psychologists, along with diversity and inclusion leaders, in her practice. Jess is a strong supporter of more diversity in fintech and co-created #AblazeSoul, a self-imposed movement for founders to improve inclusion in the fintech and VC ecosystem.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Culture from the University of Calgary, Jess embarked on a journey delving into modern consciousness research across diverse shamanic cultures worldwide. Mentored by both Indigenous and Western teachers, she attributes much of her corporate success to their wisdom and the beautiful foothills outside of Calgary, Alberta, Canada where she grew up.
Currently based in Calgary, Jess is gratefully living and working on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Iyarhe Nakoda Nations, the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta District 6, and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
