My Job!
Award Winning Luxury hotelier with broad hospitality experience; including 18 years spanning 5 continents and over 6 countries, worked with brands such as Raffles, Rotana, Jumeirah, Shangri-La and Atlantis the palm Dubai.
As Hotel manager I’ve arguably got one of the most glamorous, yet Highly responsible role in a hotels. To a certain extent I am a figurehead, motivating my managers & Staff s and charming the guests – but when the schmoozing stops it's down to me to make sure the business is profitable. And, as each business is so different, I could work anywhere from a budget hotel or Luxury Hotel in a city center to a deluxe retreat or luxury resort in the country.
What sort of hours will I work?
I will start first thing in the early morning and regularly work a 14-hour day, although a lot of that will be networking or Operational. Chances are i will be Resident in the hotel too.
The best bit about being a Hotel Manager!
With this job there’s potentially great kudos, glamour and the chance to really test my mettle.
And the worst bit?
"It's a 24-hour business and I am either cut out for it or not. As i work my way up, I'll be working long hours for fairly low pay, but it does improve and it's so rewarding.
What qualifications do I Have?
I have hospitality-related degree & diploma, such as Bachelor of commerce & F&B and hotel management, I will stand in good stead, but I'll definitely gathering bags of high quality experience in all hotels & Resorts.
Why i suit?
According to the Past experience of mine, my highlighted managerial skills are 25% sales manager, 25% strategic thinker and 50% financial wizard but being charismatic helps too.
Where I am targeting from here?
If I am with a big company, i can move on to being General Manager, regional general manager and then COO, based at cooperate office. Otherwise, I could progress to a bigger hotel or take my career internationally.
