About
I currently serve as a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Apertus Pharmaceuticals. My expertise includes the manufacturing and regulatory aspects of API’s and fine chemicals with over 18 years of research, manufacturing, and management experience in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries. I most recently worked as a Principal Scientist for Mallinckrodt, the controlled substance manufacturing division of Covidien.
I also have prior entrepreneurial experience, having started a CMO focusing on the synthesis of organic compounds and managed all aspects of the business as President for four years. As part of the effort, wet lab space was established including bench, hood and glove-box installations, and analytical capabilities including a 300MHz Bruker NMR spectrometer. While running the CMO a number of ongoing customer relationships were established with larger entities including Sigma Aldrich, ExxonMobile, Umicore, and TCI Americas.
Previously, I was a Director of New Product Development at the Cal Tech based start-up Materia. At Materia I focused on commercialization of Robert Grubbs’ ruthenium olefin metathesis catalysts, and efforts to use this technology in pharmaceutical production. I also have worked as a Quality Manager at KMCO, the largest toll processor in the United States, and was a Senior Research Scientist for Exxon early in my career.

API MANUFACTURING:
Apertus manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for companies that make finished dosage products and/or develop novel dose delivery systems and formulations. Our focus is providing bulk (Schedule II–V) controlled actives, however non-controlled APIs are also within our project portfolio.
ANALYTICAL SERVICES:
Apertus performs analytical methods development and services on a variety of instrument platforms. Our primary focus is LC (UV), LCMS and GCMS. We can use existing methods or develop novel methods on a per-project basis. In addition, we can provide methods validation, impurity identification and tech transfer packages.
PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES:
Apertus provides services for drug discovery and preclinical development on a kilo-lab scale. We can supply intermediates, specialty chemical synthesis, process optimization and scale-up services. In addition we can aid in characterizing RLDs via dissolution profiles, chemical analysis and microscopy. All services can be provided under cGMP.
