I focus on healthcare compliance and reimbursement issues for providers nationwide. My experience as a Certified Professional Coder (“CPC”) brings a unique depth of understanding of documentation and coding requirements for hospital-based inpatient services, ambulatory surgery center procedures, outpatient specialty clinics, ancillary services, as well as home health and hospice providers through use of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS medical code sets. I am also a Certified Medical Compliance Officer (“CMCO”). I use this knowledge to assist providers with a variety of compliance, fraud and abuse, and reimbursement issues as well as implementation of compliance plans and policies.
I have handled claims disputes with major payors including Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna, UHC, and various BCBS entities. I am experienced in working on administrative appeals of large extrapolated overpayments assessed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (“CMS”) program integrity contractors, primarily Unified Program Integrity Contracts (“UPICs”). I also assist providers undergoing reviews by Supplemental Medical Review Contractors (“SMRCs”) and Medicare Administrative Contractor “Targeted Probe and Educate” (“TPE”) reviews. In addition to my experience representing clients in a variety of claims audits, I also represents providers in receipt of Civil Investigative Demands related to healthcare services.
