About
I am a Social Anthropologist based in Pune, Maharashtra. I have completed my Masters from University of Pune, with a Bachelors in Biotechnology. Over the last 8 years, I have worked as an Anthropologist for Non-Profit organizations. I have qualified UGC-NET with JRF and currently enrolled for my PhD in Public Health at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
For 6 years, I have been a Consultant for Urban Health & Climate Resilience Centre of Excellence (UHCRCE) Surat (Gujarat). My specific work profile has involved conceptualizing, implementation and coordination of multiple research, training and advocacy projects in thematic areas of humanities, urban health and disaster resilience. The projects were funded by Rockefeller Foundation, UNICEF and Surat Municipal Corporation. This profile provided me opportunities to conduct and supervise quantitative and qualitative research including vulnerability assessment studies. I also have demonstrated strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships within the city, facilitation of innovative capacity building workshops and administrative as well as creative documentation.
Before my shift to UHCRCE Surat, I had worked with short duration, academic and implementation research projects. Some key projects were- Project Poshan (alleviation of Malnutrition) in Raigad district, Evaluation of Tribal Development schemes in Maharashtra, Gram Panchayat based micro-planning process documentation with YASHADA, Pune and Synthesizing evidence on social stigma related to TB, Leprosy & HIV-AIDS.
I have proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, translation and interpretation skillsets of languages English, Marathi and Hindi. My past research experience has given me the scope to work in the urban, rural, and tribal settings. Moreover, my additional qualification and experience as a Psychological Counselor has helped me to strengthen my skills of consistent self-reflection, interpersonal communication and systematic problem solving.
