About
Andrew Bard is the Chief Executive Officer of OptiMed Health Plans, a United Group Programs brand focused on serving today’s employee benefits market. Founded in 1968, OptiMed offers self-funded and fully insured products in most states and partners with carriers rated A- (Excellent) or better by A.M. Best. A senior insurance executive, Andrew leverages his expertise in sales, brand positioning, product acumen, team building, and improved profitability to accelerate the company’s growth and expand its offerings to meet consumer demand. As a collaborative leader, Andrew continues to imbue his teams with robust problem-solving acuity while being open to innovative solutions for growth.
Prior to OptiMed, Andrew served as President for Tokio Marine HCC MIS with full P&L responsibility for the subsidiary. In his capacity as President, Andrew offered his extensive knowledge of specialty insurance products, the Lloyd's market, travel insurance, international employer group health plans, expatriate medical insurance, short term health insurance, and Business Travel Accident Insurance. Andrew holds Property & Casualty, Accident & Health and Excess & Surplus lines licenses in all states. In addition to his work at HCC, Andrew has served as the President of the Indianapolis Association of Health Underwriters. As the local President, he was involved in representing the development of brokers, consultants, and benefit professionals in the Indianapolis area Association of Health Underwriters.
In 2010 he was presented with the Emerging Leader Award from the National Association of Health Underwriters. The Emerging Leader Award honors a member that has contributed significantly above and beyond what is normally called for in connection with association volunteer service at the local, state, and national level. Andrew has published articles in Benefits Selling Magazine, Employee Benefit Advisor Magazine, Health Underwriter Magazine, and was a speaker at the 2011 National Association of Health Underwriters Annual Conference.
