As Canada's local dance company, Canada's Ballet Jörgen brings the art of ballet to communities and youth across Canada with professional performances of classical Canadian ballets and educational programs. Canada’s Ballet Jörgen is proud to be one of the country’s pre-eminent builders of new ballets. Canada’s Ballet Jörgen is recognized for the innovation, warmth, humour, and beauty in its works. For over 25 years, the organization has sought to advance the art and appreciation of ballet and Canadian choreography through performance, educational experiences, and community engagement.

4th Line Theatre

Idyllic, rural, and quintessentially Canadian, each year the 4th Line Theatre Company presents Canadian plays – written by and about Canadians; small town stories or broad national sagas that touch a nerve in all of us. Our Artistic Vision: Commitment to local culture and history, artistic exploration and excellence, authenticity of presentation, innovative staging, community involvement, development of regional artists, and exploration of an environmental theatre aesthetic are the key guiding artistic principles of 4th Line Theatre. These elements create for the audience a sense of complete immersion in the struggles of our forebears. We aspire to create projects where community involvement and professional commitment mutually engage and inspire one another; linking young people to the company's professional artists and community elders. Our method of bringing history to life makes our work distinctive on the national Canadian theatre stage. Few Canadian theatres have committed so strongly to the ongoing chronicling and exploration of a region's culture and past. Our Mission: To preserve and promote our Canadian cultural heritage through the development and presentation of regionally based, environmentally staged historical dramas. Our Mandate: To develop and produce original Canadian works of artistic excellence that explore regional themes, history and heritage and to present this work in a politically responsible and culturally sensitive manner. Through our artistic processes we seek to encourage innovation and experimentation resulting in productions that entertain and educate.

Theatre of the Beat

Theatre of the Beat (TOTB) is a Canadian touring theatre company working to catalyze conversations on social justice and its intersection with the beliefs of the communities in which we find ourselves. Since 2011, Theatre of the Beat has been staging change across North America (and recently The Netherlands) by creating original social justice theatre and workshops for underrepresented populations. Through an immersive cultural exchange of grassroots theatre, hospitality, and philosophy, the company empowers its audience to work towards a just future. We create and perform original theatre across Canada (and USA), host talk backs, spark discussions, and teach workshops. Founded by Johnny Wideman in 2011, Theatre of the Beat first hit the stage when it produced Rebecca Steiner's Gadfly: Sam Steiner Dodges the Draft in partnership with Conrad Grebel University College. Since that premiere, Theatre of the Beat has written, produced and toured over 10 different plays, created and facilitated multiple workshops around the themes of restorative justice, consent and social change. We have also gone on to partner with NGOs and Community Groups across Canada, all while employing a five person staff. Theatre of the Beat has performed over 350 shows, to over 30,000 people in theatres, festivals, churches, universities, and prisons throughout (almost) every Canadian province (we are still waiting on you Newfoundland!), The United States and The Netherlands.

For four decades, the Ottawa Children's Festival has presented a five-day extravaganza of the finest quality theatre, dance and music for young audiences. We've staged an abundance of award-winning artists from around the globe and made wide-eyed children out of attendees of all ages!

Storytelling Toronto

Storytelling Toronto was brought to life in 1979 as the Storytellers School of Toronto. It was founded by seven storytellers who wanted to encourage the renaissance of oral storytelling in modern society. The very first program offered was a storytelling course taught by the late Alice Kane, and ever since the organization has continued to teach, explore, and celebrate the traditional art of oral storytelling. Over the years thousands of people have taken our courses, taken part in our workshops, attended our programs, and even more have come to the Toronto Storytelling Festival — enjoying stories told by local, national, and international storytellers. From experienced, seasoned elders to young tellers experimenting with the nature of spoken narrative, Storytelling Toronto is a creative centre for story-lovers who share a passion for and a vision of storytelling as an transformative art in contemporary life.
