Founded in the beginnings of the 1920s, Electricité de Zahlé (EDZ) is a private energy utility headquartered in Zahlé, Beqaa – the administrative seat of the Beqaa region and the home of various touristic, cultural, and active commercial centers. EDZ generates and distributes electricity over medium and low voltage networks in the city of Zahlé and the surrounding regions in an area of around 250 km2.
