The Games have annually provided an opportunity for students across Canada to showcase their mining knowledge, problem-solving and adaptive capabilities through a variety of challenges. Sponsors are able to create and develop individual events and interact directly with students during competitions to evaluate their responses to new and challenging situations. In addition to the friendly competition, both students and industry representatives are given the chance to expand their network through banquets and the career fair.

Conveyor Technologies Pty Ltd provides independent professional engineering support directly to the worldwide mining industry from its head office in Lisarow, NSW, Australia. The company is headed by a Registered Professional engineer CPEng and RPEQ. Located between Sydney and Newcastle, the company services all locations in Australia and worldwide. Remote steel cord belt monitoring is a specialty. The company provides in-house seminars to mining companies, engineering and technological services, belt failure analysis, conveyor problem analysis and design. The company commenced in USA in 1993 where the majority of work is still conducted. US and Canadian mines use the remote belt scanning technology to its fullest. Over 140 remote NDT belt scans are provided in the US annually. Australian mining companies have yet to use the technology to save considerable costs.
