The Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries was established in 2018 to support and invest in systemwide library programs and initiatives. Our primary focus areas are Youth & Family Services, Lifelong Learning, and Community Engagement. Gifts made to the Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries support innovative programs and services of San Mateo County Libraries Joint Powers Authority in the following communities: Atherton, Belmont, Brisbane, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Half Moon Bay, Millbrae, North Fair Oaks, Pacifica, Portola Valley, San Carlos, and Woodside and unincorporated San Mateo County.

Migdal Ohr UK

For over 50 years, Migdal Ohr has been dedicated to saving and supporting Israeli children at risk. With approximately 330,000 young people facing academic failure and a future overshadowed by poverty, Migdal Ohr provides a nurturing environment for their successful education. Located in Migdal HaEmek, our main campus serves as a loving home and educational hub for over 12,000 vulnerable children aged 0 to 18. Under the visionary leadership of Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman, we have expanded our reach and established impactful projects, including a network of 160 youth clubs and an agricultural education village called Zoharim. Through an academy catering to the needs of the Haredi community and our diverse educational institutions, we strive to empower children and young people. While the Israeli government partially supports our annual turnover, private donations remain crucial. Migdal Ohr's approach emphasises individual attention and values-based education, enabling children to contribute creatively to society. With a dedicated team of 800 tutors and mentors, we ensure that each child receives the support to embark on a promising life journey.

TEDxUPAEP

TED es una organización sin fines de lucro, con el propósito de difundir ideas asombrosas, que buscan fomentar el aprendizaje, la inspiración y que valen la pena compartir con los demás, lo hacen por medio de un formato de pláticas cortas que duran 18 minutos o menos pero que tienen gran impacto ya que son impartidas por los pensadores y líderes del momento. TEDx es una forma de hacer eventos o pláticas TED pero a nivel local, donde se comparten TED-talks en vivo y vídeos similares previamente grabados de distintas conferencias TED. Cada evento TEDx es único pues se desarrolla y se planifica de manera independiente de la comunidad TED, sin embargo todos tienen características en común ya que están sujetos a ciertas reglas y regulaciones establecidas por TED. TEDxUPAEP es un evento que surge del deseo de mejorar nuestro entorno, nuestra vida y nuestra persona a partir de ideas, conocimientos e historias que pueden cambiar nuestra realidad. Somos un grupo de jóvenes universitarios que creemos firmemente en que un mundo mejor es posible, y todo nace de ideas que vale la pena compartir y hacerlas realidad.

Light Up East African Foundation

LU(EA)F is a non-profit charity organization delivering clean efficient and affordable energy generation, distribution and financing solutions. Most rural areas in Kenya use kerosene lamps to light up their houses at night. Kerosene lamps are expensive, inefficient, unhealthy and dangerous to the users. Our project is aimed at providing our solar lanterns and solar systems to remote rural areas.77% of the population in Kenya has no electricity, and rely on kerosene for their lighting needs. Not to mention, a sizeable segment of Kenya's population will not have access to the grid in their lifetime. Kenya, being one of the world's most solar rich countries, has the potential to scale up the adoption of solar lanterns which will benefit millions of Kenyan households.In accordance with this belief LU(EA)F recently launched a solar lantern initiative which offers hope for a brighter future in rural and urban communities in Kenya.
