J-PAL South Asia

J-PAL South Asia, a regional office of J-PAL, is based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research in India and leads J-PAL’s work in the South Asia region. J-PAL South Asia conducts randomized evaluations, builds partnerships for evidence-informed policymaking, and helps partners scale up effective programs. We have a growing number of partnerships in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In 2011, J-PAL South Asia was selected to host the South Asia Center for CLEAR, a global initiative by the World Bank’s Independent Evaluation Group. CLEAR South Asia supports governments and partner organizations in strengthening their monitoring and evaluation systems and capacities through training courses, technical advisory services, and knowledge sharing. CLEAR South Asia is a core implementing partner of the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI).

CNC is a scientific institute that fosters high-level biomedical and biotechnology research with societal impact, promotes multidisciplinary graduate training and provides specialized services to healthcare institutions and the entrepreneurial community. CNC is committed to fundamental research and to translating it into clinical and/or marketable applications CNC integrates the Center for Innovation in Biomedicine and Biotechnology (CIBB) R&D Unit, a strategic partnership between CNC and the Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research (iCBR). CIBB brings together in a single hub of excellence the largest critical mass of investigators in Biomedicine and Biotechnology operating in the CENTRO region of Portugal. CIBB is an FCT-funded R&D Unit and an Associate Laboratory. CNC unites scientists from the Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy and Sciences and Technology, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research at the University of Coimbra, and from the Coimbra University Hospitals Center and Portuguese Institute of Oncology. It is also a founding partner of the Biotechnology Park BIOCANT. These unique partnerships have fostered basic and applied science, graduate studies, technology transfer and academic/non-academic collaboration. At CNC we develop biomedical research in Neuroscience, Metabolism, Ageing and Biotechnology and focus on five main strategic pillars: Research, Education, Health, Entrepreneurship and Societal Involvement.
