CIBIO – Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources - InBIO Associate Laboratory is an internationally recognized Research Unit in biological sciences conducting basic and applied research on the three main components of biodiversity: genes, species and ecosystems. Our mission is to develop world-class research in the areas of biodiversity and evolutionary biology. Our goal is to make a significant contribution to: - Advance scientific knowledge in the fields of biodiversity and evolutionary biology - special emphasis on the understanding of processes that lead to present-day patterns of biological diversity and on the principles governing the spatial partitioning of genotypic and phenotypic variation. - Integrate and deepen ecological, taxonomical and biogeographical knowledge at different scales worldwide - with a particular focus on the Iberian and Mediterranean biological heritage. - Use scientific knowledge to set and suggest appropriate conservation priorities and management tools - in collaboration with local and national agricultural, forestry and hunting authorities. - Provide top-level advanced training - MSc and PhD levels and short-term training courses. - Disseminate scientific knowledge and promote public awareness and appreciation of biodiversity. Established in 2002, since January 2011 CIBIO is part of InBIO - Research Network in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology, Associate Laboratory, together with CEABN – Centre for Applied Ecology "Prof. Baeta Neves"​, Institute of Agronomy, University of Lisbon. CIBIO-InBIO fosters an international and multicultural research environment, currently hosting researchers from more than 17 countries, organized in 19 research groups. These groups focus their activity on biodiversity and ecology, evolutionary biology and applied ecology, and integrate experts in complementary fields, such as molecular and population genetics, phylogeography, population biology, immunogenetics, taxonomy, ecology, bioinformatics and computational biology, landscape management and conservation. In addition, the Centre provides various services to the community, including: - applied research on evaluation and use of genetic resources; - information and assessments for environmental impact studies, habitat and ecosystem monitoring and rehabilitation, and environmental planning; - next generation sequencing; and - scientific consulting.

CNC is a scientific institute that fosters high-level biomedical and biotechnology research with societal impact, promotes multidisciplinary graduate training and provides specialized services to healthcare institutions and the entrepreneurial community. CNC is committed to fundamental research and to translating it into clinical and/or marketable applications CNC integrates the Center for Innovation in Biomedicine and Biotechnology (CIBB) R&D Unit, a strategic partnership between CNC and the Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research (iCBR). CIBB brings together in a single hub of excellence the largest critical mass of investigators in Biomedicine and Biotechnology operating in the CENTRO region of Portugal. CIBB is an FCT-funded R&D Unit and an Associate Laboratory. CNC unites scientists from the Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy and Sciences and Technology, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research at the University of Coimbra, and from the Coimbra University Hospitals Center and Portuguese Institute of Oncology. It is also a founding partner of the Biotechnology Park BIOCANT. These unique partnerships have fostered basic and applied science, graduate studies, technology transfer and academic/non-academic collaboration. Responsible Research and Innovation are key to answer the contemporary scientific and societal challenges. At CNC we develop biomedical research in Neuroscience, Metabolism, Ageing and Biotechnology and focus on five main strategic pillars: Research, Education, Health, Entrepreneurship and Societal Involvement.

TRL is a team of expert scientists, engineers and specialists who work together with our clients and partners to Shape Transport TRL: • Publishes software that helps the world’s largest cities, and many smaller towns too, reduce pollution, carbon footprint and congestion with advanced traffic management, better road design and asset management and safety data analysis. • Offers consultancy and advisory services based on our leading edge research into infrastructure, vehicles and human behaviours which enables safer, cleaner, more efficient transport • Delivers detailed incident investigation, structural survey and other high value field services to help clients to improve the service they give their customers • Works with universities and other partners to invest in basic and applied research that will underpin future needs • Has built, with its partners in government and industry, the Smart Mobility Living Lab: the world’s first physical and virtual testbed in a global megacity (London) that lets companies test new mobility products and services safely on live public roads. Established in 1933 as the UK government’s Road Research Laboratory, the renamed TRL was privatised in 1996 and today has more than 1000 clients in many countries. Our headquarters are in Wokingham and we have offices in London and India.
