United Way of Central Washington

United Way of Central Washington is a local organization, serving Yakima and Kittitas counties. We're committed to using donations wisely, locally and effectively to make a positive difference in the lives of people in our community, creating a healthier community for us all. Last year, our partner agencies served more than 130,000 people, more than 1 in 3! Help comes in many forms, and our system of caring helps people from birth to senior, families and individuals get the support and tools they need to live better lives. More than 17,000 people throughout our community support United Way each year, and give countless hours to serving our region. During the 2019-2020 campaign United Way of Central Washington raised nearly $1.3 million in support of the community. These funds were distributed by a group of 50 community volunteers and will support more than 60 programs at 54 local non-profits that have efficient and effective programs. With your help, United Way has the unique ability, individually and collectively, to achieve broad civic goals that no single donor, citizen, nonprofit or charity could accomplish alone. Dedicated community volunteers provide the leadership. Caring partner agency staff members provide the support. It's a winning combination!

African Care ry

African Care ry is a non-governmental organization operating from Helsinki, Finland. It was founded in 2001 by African women, working as health and social workers in the capital region. African Care's goal is to strengthen the societal position of immigrant women and their families. Currently the focus is on supporting health and wellbeing. The organization actively cooperates and coordinates with different ministries, educational institutes and other NGOs. Currently African Care provides support for immigrant women and their families, runs a global education project for Finnish youth and coordinates a development project in Somalia.

Siblings Together

There are 40,000 brothers and sisters in care in the UK living separated from each other, with another 4,000 newly separated each year These children have a fundamental right to choose contact with their brothers or sisters, and government surveys confirm contact is a top priority for them. Unfortunately, contact for separated siblings is generally infrequent, and when it does happen, the quality of contact offered is often poor. Siblings Together is the only charity whose aim is to promote positive contact between brothers and sisters separated by the UK care system. We tackle the huge injustice of sibling separation by running a range of programmes including week long residential camps and monthly activity days for separated brothers and sisters, and a "buddies" project to support individual sibling groups in meeting up. Our programmes provide a safe, secure and relaxed environment where children can have fun and spend quality time with their brothers and sisters. For many of us, our sibling relationships are the longest we ever experience. Our work not only responds to what children themselves want whilst they are in care, but also helps them build the long term network of support that we all need for a happy and successful life. We also campaign for changes in policy in practice in the care system, so a much higher priority is given throughout the system to responding to children's wish to see more of their brothers and sisters.

The Uplands Center

The Uplands is a not-for-profit Retreat Center located 2.5 hours outside NYC on 290 acres of tranquil farm and woodlands in the sweeping hills of the western Catskills. The center offers a venue to meet, reflect and grow for individuals and groups who share a common mission to care for others or facilitate change in the world. Its twin missions are (1) to empower changemakers by providing a dynamic setting for innovative program design, co-creation, and brainstorming and (2) to revitalize those who serve others, by offering restorative and growth-promoting experiences (groups hosted include first responders, health care practitioners, educators, and social service providers). The Center offers meeting spaces for team-building, sharing and innovation, as well as spa amenities (massage, pool, sauna, hot-tub), yoga, meditation and creative arts studios, all amid the peaceful serenity of a natural setting of extraordinary beauty. We work closely with you to co-create intimate multi-day retreats to achieve your group's goals.

Fundación Wekimün Chilkatuwe

Wekimün Chilkatuwe es una Escuela de Artes y Oficios Intercultural e Interdisciplinaria que tiene como objetivo el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de personas indígenas y no indígenas, sus familias y comunidades de origen, mediante una propuesta educativa basada en el diálogo entre sistemas de conocimiento (conocimiento tradicional indígena y conocimiento científico) utilizando una metodología de construcción de conocimientos y aprendizaje por proyectos. Wekimün (que quiere decir Nuevo Conocimiento en mapudungun) es el resultado de una larga vinculación entre el Consejo General de Caciques Williche de Chiloé y la Universidad de la Isla Príncipe Eduardo de Canadá (UPEI por su nombre en inglés), que decanta en esta iniciativa que vincula la educación con el desarrollo local sustentable, el fortalecimiento de la identidad y el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de las personas, comunidades y territorios., especialmente de los territorios indígenas e isleños del archipiélago de Chilwe. El cuerpo docente en Chiloé está formado por un equipo de especialistas y expertos en cultura, lengua, desarrollo social rural, planificación territorial, derechos humanos, educación para la paz y salud indígena al que se suman profesionales de diversas áreas del saber humanista y científico apoyando el desarrollo de habilidades, actitudes y competencias para la gestión del territorio, el emprendimiento individual o comunitario y la inserción en el mundo del trabajo a través de una oferta innovadora y única de capacitación en Chiloé y la Región de Los Lagos
