The IPA was founded in 1865 as an organization for Illinois publishers. It has evolved into the largest state newspaper association in the country representing more than 450 daily and weekly newspapers. The Association spent much of its early history housed in Gregory Hall on the campus of the University of Illinois. In 1975, it relocated to Springfield and settled into its permanent headquarters in April of 2000. The IPA has evolved from a fraternal organization to one whose agenda now focuses on a wide array of legislative, business, advertising, educational and legal services. The IPA is governed by a board of directors of 15 newspaper executives representing an equal number of weekly and daily newspapers from regional districts. The Board of Directors determines the legislative and business practices that are carried out by the IPA's full-time staff of 15 employees. More than 450 newspapers are members of the Illinois Press Association, making it the largest state press organization in the country. The IPA continues to provide professional education, government access and newspaper advertising promotion to members. They also provide assistance for Newspapers in Education and literacy programs, education and promotion of the First Amendment, information on evolving technology and new media, and "hot button" seminars.

Siglo XXI es un proyecto editorial y cultural que, a través de un catálogo que fue construyéndose artesanalmente –es decir, leyendo, conversando, evaluando, aunque no siempre en ese orden–, busca difundir el pensamiento crítico y las ideas más actualizadas en el campo de las humanidades, las ciencias sociales y la divulgación científica. Quienes hacemos día a día Siglo XXI estamos orgullosos de nuestros clásicos (¿cómo no estarlo de autores cuyas obras siguen vivas, como Michel Foucault, Roland Barthes, Pierre Bourdieu, Julia Kristeva, Jacques Lacan, Eduardo Galeano, Rosa Luxemburgo, Paulo Freire, Antonio Gramsci, Karl Marx?). Ese catálogo se pensó y se organizó en los años 60 y 70, en diálogo con un momento histórico cruzado por propuestas de cambio social y de modernización y experimentación en las disciplinas. Siglo XXI supo interpretar ese clima de época. Argentina 2020: el mundo es otro pero la vocación editorial es la misma. Siglo XXI no se conforma con ocupar un lugar destacado en el ámbito editorial local, sino que elige dar pelea al desafío de la concentración editorial y posicionarse como una editorial de primera línea regional e internacionalmente, aun con las dificultades que implica hacerlo desde la periferia. Seguimos atentos a las autoras y los autores que piensan a contrapelo de cada coyuntura, que intentan captar las tensiones del presente, que se hacen preguntas, que no se resignan a visiones binarias ni de la política ni de la sociedad. En el mismo sentido, abrimos nuestro catálogo a libros periodísticos que se dirigen a un público más amplio o no especializado, que intervienen en debates actuales, o que pretenden acercar herramientas de comprensión de problemas complejos. Cada año lanzamos nuevas colecciones o relanzamos series históricas. Publicamos autoras y autores con trayectorias consolidadas y también, sistemáticamente, a quienes están dando forma a su primer libro y expresan tonos, estilos y temas de una nueva generación.

Founded in 1975, Illinois Times has a longstanding reputation for thoughtful news coverage and analysis. In recent years, Illinois Times has also won recognition for its investigative journalism, garnering statewide and national awards, as well as for breaking local and statewide news, helping set the agenda for the capital city of a major Midwestern state. The newspaper also strives to be the region's voice for arts and culture and provides Springfield¹s premier arts-and-entertainment section, including a comprehensive calendar of events, weekly film and music coverage, and regular lifestyle features, including popular local columns on food, cooking and gardening. Illinois Times is a local institution that enjoys a statewide following and a diverse and loyal readership. Springfield has a residential population of about 120,000, but commuters to state-government and medical-community jobs cause the weekday population to swell.
