Big Sunday

Big Sunday is the largest annual citywide community service event in American. We connect worthy non profit groups with able volunteers who are looking for the right opportunities. In 2008, 50,000 volunteers helped more than 325 nonprofit groups during our weekend of community service in May. We also keep a calendar of opportunities year round, and publish a holiday list in November for opportunities during the holidays.

Will County Center for Economic Development

The Will County Center for Economic Development is a 501(c)6 not-for-profit organization, created by the business community in 1981. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all residents in Will County by recruiting new companies offering high-quality jobs and a solid tax base while assisting existing businesses to retain and add jobs. The CED's programs are based on the following principles: Defense of the Will County and Illinois Economies Competitiveness of Will County Businesses Diversification of the Economic Base Inclusive Economic Development Infrastructure Modernization Workforce Attraction and Development

Correctional Association of New York

Mandate On May 9, 1846, the Prison Association of New York (which changed its name to Correctional Association of New York in 1961) was incorporated by the New York State Legislature in an effort to provide independent oversight of jails and prisons, and keep the legislature informed of "their state and condition, and all such other things in regard to them as may enable the Legislature to perfect their government and discipline" (L.1846, Ch. 163, §6). Today, CANY conducts oversight of prisons in New York state through onsite monitoring visits, confidential correspondence with people in prison, and research activities. Mission CANY provides independent oversight of prisons in New York State in order to promote transparency and accountability; safeguard the human and civil rights of incarcerated people; eliminate harmful practices and policies; and decrease the use of incarceration in New York. Vision CANY envisions a future in which our criminal justice system uses an entirely different approach to responding to violence and social concerns. In this vision, prisons look nothing like they do today: far fewer people are held for much shorter sentences in transformed conditions that promote health, safety, and justice for incarcerated individuals, communities, and society at large.

Wild Rockies Field Institute

An independent, non-profit education organization offering academically rigorous, expedition-based field courses for college students. Courses are accredited through the University of Montana, and take place in various landscapes across the Rocky Mountain West. By facilitating experiential learning and critical thinking about place, WRFI aims to develop engaged, informed citizens and strong leaders capable of addressing complex social and environmental issues.
