Seaside Sustainability (nonprofit)

Seaside Sustainability is a nationally recognized, award-winning 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to community engagement, education and environmental conservation. Seaside Sustainability’s mission is to protect and restore our oceans by educating people of all ages about the critical issues that threaten our environment; promoting best practices for sustainability; and inspiring meaningful advocacy and hands-on action. Seaside Sustainability works with schools, cities and towns, environmental groups, technology companies, and individuals. Together, we strive to ensure the healthy future of oceans, rivers, wetlands, and estuaries around the world. Seaside Sustainability aims to be a leader in environmental and STEM education programs and recognition initiatives by promoting public awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability, providing resources to develop problem-solving skills, and chances to get engaged as part of a community to take action. Our work provides project-based learning, meaningful internships for students, and volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. Our unique internship program engages hundreds of high school and college students around the world in meaningful hands-on study, giving them training to become the future leaders in the stewardship of our planet.

AchieveKids

AchieveKids provides dynamic and innovative education services for students in special education. Through a community of acceptance and respect, AchieveKids specializes in creating learning for students’ with severe emotional, learning, and/or developmental disabilities. Our dedicated teachers, behavioral health team, speech therapists, and paraprofessionals work collaboratively to create opportunity and independence in the lives of our students. This interdisciplinary team is a skillful problem solving group that instructs and guides students toward greater independence and self-reliance, enabling a path to a brighter future. With campuses in Palo Alto and San Jose, we serve multiple school districts and charters throughout the Bay. A WASC accredited school, AchieveKids is a learning organization, where all of our community learns and grows. AchieveKids believes in creating a path to a brighter future. Success within our school and community is wonderful, but we need to strive for more, helping to create opportunity in the lives of our students beyond our doors. AchieveKids creates a school culture of learning, growing, reflection, and individual and community improvement. To accomplish this task, AchieveKids utilizes the Learning for Life goals. We work to create Awareness, to develop a sense of Advocacy, to nurture one’s Ability to learn, and to enhance an individual’s Agility. Communities In Schools of the Lehigh Valley

The mission of Communities In Schools in the Lehigh Valley (CIS) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS is committed to ending the drop-out epidemic in the public school system and ensuring that every student graduates. CIS staff are positioned within schools, where they work cooperatively with the teachers, counselors, and principals, to coordinate a web of comprehensive supports. School-wide, group-level, and individualized supports serve to improve students'​ attendance, reduce suspensions, and improve academic outcomes. CIS case managed supports target students identified as being at-risk of dropout. Through the power of caring relationships and community support, CIS staff empower these at-risk students to make positive choices for themselves and find success in school and beyond. The variety of services CIS delivers across Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties includes counseling, mentoring, tutoring, support for alternative education, out-of-school time programs, career and college readiness programming, dropout reengagement, and referrals to community-based resources.
