Die Deutsches Primatenzentrum GmbH (DPZ) - Leibniz-Institut für Primatenforschung betreibt biologische und biomedizinische Forschung auf allen Gebieten, in denen Studien an nichtmenschlichen Primaten eine zentrale Rolle spielen: vor allem der Infektionsforschung, den Neurowissenschaften und der organismischen Primatenbiologie. Das DPZ ist hohen ethischen Standards und transparenter Kommunikation verpflichtet. Mit seinen Kompetenzen und seiner Infrastruktur setzt das DPZ Maßstäbe für Zucht, Haltung und experimentellen Einsatz von Primaten und berät und unterstützt andere Forschungseinrichtungen, unter anderem durch die Bereitstellung von Tieren aus seiner Zucht. Außerdem unterhält das DPZ vier Feldstationen, um Primaten in ihren Herkunftsländern zu erforschen.
