CIRCA - Cultural and Indigenous Research Centre Australia

Who are we? CIRCA research is a leading agency in research with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Australia. We specialise in applying culturally sensitive approaches to market research, policy, and evaluations. CIRCA's team is made up of passionate people with extensive experience in social research. In addition, we work with a national network of research consultants from a wide variety of backgrounds and with a broad range of expertise. Together, we speak more than 20 community languages! This network is constantly growing, reflecting the reality of our multicultural society, and allows us to adapt to the needs of each particular project. What we do? Our research methodology is rigorous, culturally sensitive and centres on fruitful community consultation. We ensure a diversity of community voices are heard and are committed to culturally specific research methods based on mutual respect and cooperation. Australian Bird Study Association

The Australian Bird Study Association aims to support, encourage and promote the study of Australian birds and to contribute to their conservation. The association was founded in 1962 as the Bird Banders Association of N.S.W. (quickly being renamed the Bird Banders' Association of Australia) as means for communication between researchers as banding birds for ornithological research was relatively new at this time. The group, under the presidency of Bill Lane aimed to "stimulate the fellowship of banders as a group; to gather and distribute as much information as possible on the technique, results and literature of our common interest; and to provide a mutual service which will assist us all." The dissemination of research has always been a priority for the organisation through the Journals "The Australian Bird Bander" (1964 - 1977) and "Corella" (1977-current). This includes special issues such as "The Seabird Island Series" which covers >260 offshore islands, as well as Avian Communities Through Time which provides a means of publishing information form long-term banding studies. The organisation also provides high quality mist-nests and research equipment through the Mist Net Service founded in 1963.
