Hulp bij opvoeden en opgroeien! De Cocon, Jeugdhulp aan Huis biedt specialistische jeugd- en opvoedhulp in de leefomgeving van de cliënt in de regio "Oost Vlaanderen". We zijn erkend en worden gesubsidieerd door de Vlaamse overheid als ‘Organisatie voor bijzondere jeugdzorg' en als ‘Dienst voor Crisishulp aan Huis'. We vinden enerzijds dat kinderen en jongeren zich op een positieve manier moeten kunnen ontwikkelen en anderzijds dat dit in een veilige omgeving moet gebeuren. Daarom bieden we kwalitatief hoogstaande, mobiele, intensieve en flexibele jeugd- en opvoedhulp aan jongeren en gezinnen met kinderen in een verontrustende leef- of opvoedingssituatie, waarbij de ontwikkeling of veiligheid van het kind of de jongere onduidelijk of ernstig in het gedrang is. Onze hulp is gericht aan zowel de kinderen, de jongeren als de ouders. Onze passie, ons DNA, is gericht op jongeren met een ernstig risico op thuis- en dakloosheid en op gezinnen met kinderen met een verhoogd risico op uithuisplaatsing van het kind. We zijn er ook voor uithuisgeplaatste kinderen die terug thuis kunnen gaan wonen, mits intensieve sociaal-pedagogische ondersteuning in het gezin. Dit zijn de groepen waarvoor wij het verschil willen maken. Samen met het kind, de jongere, het gezin en het sociaal netwerk gaan we voor een leef- en opvoedsituatie waarin het veilig is om op te groeien en te ontwikkelen. We gaan uit van de vrijzinnig-humanistische levenshouding en waarden zoals vrijdenken, solidariteit, zelfbeschikking en menswaardigheid. MEET THE WHITE CENTER FOOD BANK The White Center Food Bank began in the mid-1970's as an emergency response to assist struggling families and individuals in the greater White Center and Highline areas during a major economic downturn. Much like today, many in the community were facing difficult economic conditions that left them in need of food resources. In 1982 the White Center Emergency Food Association was formally incorporated and is today known as the White Center Food Bank, serving 57,989 individuals (19,569 families) in 2017. White Center as a geographic area has been subject to many changes in its micro-economic climate from influxes and growth of various immigrant groups to periods of rebirth in its business core. Current programs include daytime, evening, and seniors-only food distributions; Mobile Food Bank Program for seniors and disabled clients; a Baby Pantry for diapers, formula, baby foods and more; culturally relevant food grown onsite; community demonstration gardens and P-patches, cultural foods buying program, grocery rescue and a community connector providing customers with other resources that they need. Intake services are provided in five languages, and all written materials are provided in six languages. Mary’s Place offers proven, effective solutions for addressing family homelessness. At five locations across King County, we provide 720 shelter beds to keep families safe and together. #nochildsleepsoutside Resources are offered for employment, housing, wellness, and financial stability through on-site services provided by more than 40 local non-profit organizations. Kids Club provides age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, book groups, games, homework help. Our Popsicle Place program provides safe shelter for families with a critically-ill child.
