Up-front configurations means that you know in advance what you’ll get from common system administration tasks like package installations and updates. - Decentralised development done properly. We make it very easy to use official as well as unofficial repositories and handle any packages moving between repositories. - For developers - we expect users to take part in the development. The first year alone we had more than 70 different contributors committing to our package repositories, our website and starting new projects closely related to Exherbo. The number of users taking part in the development is steadily rising as is the quality of the contributions. - Derived in a few parts from Gentoo, but not a fork. Exherbo takes some ideas from other Linux distributions but it’s our own ideas that really sets us apart and defines Exherbo. - Uses the Paludis package manager with a custom built EAPI.
