The Black Chamber was conceived and started in late 1984 by fourteen (14) local Black business owners as a vehicle through which to promote, sustain and maintain economic progress for Black-owned enterprises in the metropolitan area, and as a medium for ensuring the participation of such businesses in the overall business and economic development plans of the area.

Downers Grove Downtown Management

We are an independent not-for-profit organization led by a board of eight elected Downtown property and business owners and the Downtown Manager. This Corporation was formed for the purpose of promoting the development and expansion of business and to increase valuation of property within this Special Service Area. The Corporation is working on creating a diverse retail, shopping and service business environment which will increase activity within this area in addition to developing and implementing promotional pieces, advertising campaigns and civic and cultural events which will benefit the business members. We also recruit and assist members in identifying tenants which enhance the overall business mix in Downtown Downers Grove.
