Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).

Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) was founded in 1959 by a small group of professionals with the objective of developing and promoting the profession of personnel management. The Institute was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976, and its name was amended by Act No. 31 of 2018 as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM). CIPM SL is a professional body and is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management and World Federation of People Management Associations. The CIPM SL is the pioneering and most recognized professional body in the Island when it comes to trend-setting in the HRM profession.

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was initially established as the “General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy” by the Parliamentary Act No 68 of 1981 and subsequently it was elevated to University status by the amendment Act No 27 of 1988, thereby empowering it to award Bachelors’ and Postgraduate degrees in Defence Studies. KDU is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (United Kingdom) and maintains necessary standards for educating and grooming Officer Cadets to meet the challenges of modern defence management. KDU is now open for civil students who wish to continue their higher studies in the fields of Engineering, Law, Management, Social Sciences and IT. Officers with exceptional performance in reputed universities/institutions can pursue postgraduate studies in accordance with the requirements of the Service to which they belong. Civil professionals are also offered a place at postgraduate studies to excel in and study a post graduate degree in their related field of expertise.

Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management

The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) is the only Government approved premier Institute in Sri Lanka, which was established by the Government in 1964 to train young men and women in the complex field of Hospitality and Travel Industry, and is managed by The Ministry of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs. Further, in order to facilitate students island-wide, provincial schools have been set up in Anuradhapura, Bandarawela, Pallekelle, Koggala, Ratnapura, and Kurunegala. Following the ever expanding tourism sector in the country with developments in the travel & hospitality industry, the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management provides a sound professional training to cater for the fast developing needs of the local and international hotel and tourism industries with the best trained and most highly motivated management professionals. During the first 10 years, the focus was to train personnel for top and middle management position in the industry, supplemented with a programme of short courses at craft level, which provided the manpower for the various departments in the hospitality trade.
