Sophisti

Sophisti is a connected product design studio. In our work we connect physical objects and digital media by combining skills from industrial and interaction design, software and electronics development. We design and develop from idea to prototype to product. Sophisti works for big clients like Philips, LEGO, Heineken and NXP, but also for startups like Minibrew, Ikawa and Styleshoots. For these clients we have designed and developed app enhanced products like a coffee roaster, a beer-brewing machine and a fashion photography studio. We develop our own ideas as well which have been featured in numerous media-outlets For example Gamechanger an interactive game board bringing millennial families around the table or Ping (winner of Core77 Award) bridging distances between loved ones with a bed lamp. A recent example is Ding (also Core77 Award( a set of blocks to enhance interactivity and electronics in creative sessions. Sophisti was founded in 2007 and is based in downtown Amsterdam where we currently work with a team of 6 designers and developers. Skyline Chess Ltd

BRITISH ROOTS, INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE. Founded by two London-based architects, Chris Prosser and Ian Flood, Skyline Chess takes iconic architecture from around the world and pits the greats against each other, bringing impeccable design and gamesmanship into a beautiful set. As flatmates, Chris and Ian would play chess in the evenings and concoct the architectural skylines of their dreams to compete in theoretical games, thus creating the concept of Skyline Chess. The idea of products being a memento of relationships and occasion, combined with an architect's eye for design and the appreciation of craftsmanship, led to the creation of a truly unique take on an ageless game. As unequivocal ambassadors of marquetry, the quality of the materials used have been carefully selected and every detail meticulously considered. For the Luxury bronze sets, a lost-wax casting technique that dates back over 6,000 years is used by a foundry run by a small family business in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, safeguarding a timeless skill whilst creating a timeless game.
