IHMC

IHMC is a not-for-profit research institute of the Florida University System and is affiliated with several Florida universities and research centers. Researchers at IHMC pioneer technologies aimed at leveraging and extending human capabilities. Our human-centered approach often results in systems that can be regarded as cognitive or perceptual prostheses, much as eyeglasses are a sort of ocular prosthesis. These systems fit the human and machine components together in ways that exploit their respective strengths and mitigate their respective weaknesses. The design and fit of computational prostheses require a broader interdisciplinary range than is typically found in one organization, thus IHMC staff includes computer scientists, cognitive psychologists, neuroscientists, physicians, philosophers, engineers and social scientists of various stripes, as well as some people who resist all attempts to classify them

Children's Oncology Group

The Children's Oncology Group (COG) is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) supported clinical trials cooperative group, and the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research. COG’s goal is to cure all children and adolescents with cancer, reduce the short and long-term complications of cancer treatments, and determine the causes and find ways to prevent childhood cancer. COG unites more than 9,000 experts in childhood cancer at more than 200 leading children’s hospitals, universities, and cancer centers across North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe in the fight against childhood cancer. Today, more than 90% of children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States are cared for at Children’s Oncology Group member institutions. COG’s unparalleled collaborative efforts provide the information and support needed to answer important clinical questions in the fight against cancer. The Children’s Oncology Group has nearly 100 active clinical trials open at any given time. These trials include front-line treatment for many types of childhood cancers, studies aimed at determining the underlying biology of these diseases, and trials involving new and emerging treatments, supportive care, and survivorship.

CUBRC

Since CUBRC’s emergence in 1983, the company has grown from a small facilitator of research into a fully staffed, highly respected, scientifically crucial entity. While it is our mission to make a positive technological and economic impact on Western New York, the influences of our work stretch far beyond the WNY region by making significant technology contributions to our nation as a whole. The technologies and facilities of CUBRC date back to the late 1950s, playing a major role in the development and testing of NASA’s Gemini and Apollo space capsules, the U.S. Space Shuttle as well as many other vehicles that travel through Earth’s atmosphere at speeds much greater than that of sound. More recently, CUBRC has continued its pioneering work in the area of aeronautics by expanding and enhancing our Hypervelocity research facilities into a unique research and test capability, available nowhere else in the world. In 1988, CUBRC expanded our technology to reach beyond aeronautics. CUBRC has made tremendous contributions in defending our country against the effects of biological and chemical agents, improving clinical diagnostic instruments that test for diseases, helping to save lives on streets and highways, and helping people make critical decisions through the development of advanced information systems designed to provide crucial information extracted from massive, disparate sources of data. CUBRC offers exciting challenges where ideas and skills are valued and individual contributions are respected, recognized, and rewarded.
