Alpine Pole for Natural Risk Prevention (PARN)

The "Pôle Alpin d'études et de recherche pour la prévention des Risques Naturels" (PARN) association (non-profit organization law 1901) gathers 9 member organizations among research centers and universities of the Rhône-Alpes region that have an activity of study and research on natural hazards. The association was created in 1988 as one of the recommendations of the "Isère Département Pilote" operation in the field of natural and technological risks: to make an effort in the field of research to develop more effective and less expensive methods. The cluster has been created with the following objectives: • Bring together organizations with an activity of study and research in the field of natural hazards in order to develop coordinated research programs and so remedy the fragmentation of efforts in this area • Develop efficient scientific and technical tools and make them available to public authorities and operational services to improve the prediction and prevention of natural hazards.

Earth Vision Bio Solutions

Earth Vision Bio uses patented technology to produce SuStar Sustainable Starch™, a transformational, earth-friendly, lower cost replacement for plastics and Polystyrene. Our technology mechanically realigns the molecular structure of starch making it both strong and flexible without the use of petroleum-based polyolefin. Polyolefin is a binding agent required in all manufacturing of sustainable products today and adds cost and toxins, and is not biodegradable This means, a straw can be manufactured to decompose completely, within 10 days of disposal. A fork can decompose in 4 months or a car bumper, not at all. Our products simply turn back to starch when decomp is complete. SuStar™ utilizes waste food starch as its principal raw material, which is one of the world's most abundant biomass products in nature (Schwartz & Whisler, 2009). These starches can be produced from leaves, roots, seeds, and stems and are so abundant that excesses are often land filled at tremendous cost. Commercial starches are extracted primarily from cereal grains such as corn (82%), wheat (8%), and tuber crops such as potatoes (5%) (LeCorre, Bras & Dufresne, 2010). Other starches include rice, sorghum and hemp, also available to us. Consumers are becoming far more aware of the dangers of plastic in our environment and are conscious of the sea life that are being killed as a result of plastics ending up in the oceans around the world. In fact, more than 1.5M precious creatures lives are lost annually. SuStar products may not stop the flow into the oceans, but if they do get there, no harm will come to the wildlife.
