Texas State Aquarium

The Texas State Aquarium is bringing the sights, sounds and vibrant wildlife of the Western Caribbean to the shores of South Texas. By interpreting the unique features of both is well on its way to becoming one of the premier aquariums in the nation. With the creation of the Caribbean Journey, the Texas State Aquarium is positioned to become a global leader in fostering support for the conservation of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Education is the cornerstone of our mission at Texas State Aquarium. Our educational experiences – from field trips to summer camp to distance learning- are designed to promote inclusive and collaborative learning, foster STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) exploration and discovery and empower learners of all ages to reach their full potential. Through its Flint Hills Resources Center for Excellence in STEM Education, the Texas State Aquarium brings together best practices and innovation from the fields of education, research and industry to advance STEM education and learning, in and out of the classroom, in south Texas and beyond. Flint Hills Resources has also been our longtime presenting partner for our Aquavision Distance Learning program. Each year, thousands of protected, threatened, or endangered species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Some have been impaired by predators, diseases, other natural causes, and even humans. This includes entanglement in fishing line, nets, or lures, and even illegal harassment and shootings. The goal of our Rescue Center is to rehabilitate and, whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

Lincoln Park Zoo

Lincoln Park Zoo inspires communities to create environments where wildlife will thrive in our urbanizing world. The zoo is a leader in local and global conservation, animal care and welfare, learning, and science. A historic Chicago landmark founded in 1868, the not-for-profit Lincoln Park Zoo, is a privately-managed, member-supported organization and is free and open 365 days a year.

Hoyt Arboretum Friends

Hoyt Arboretum is a living museum of trees located in Washington Park in SW Portland, free for the public to enjoy. We offer year-round access to 12 miles of trails, 189 acres of forest, and more than 2,300 species of plants and trees from around the world. 500,000 people are estimated to use Hoyt Arboretum as a living classroom, outdoor gym, and spiritual sanctuary every year. At the heart of the Arboretum is the Visitor Center, a "busy hive of activity," which offers a gift shop and complimentary hot drinks. There's also the Bill deWeese Classroom, where one can join public tours, expert-led presentations, and classes on everything from wildlife tracking to botanical illustration. Our Magnolia, Maple and Conifer collections are nationally recognized, and at least 67 of our species are listed as rare or endangered in the wild. The Arboretum is supported by Hoyt Arboretum Friends, a membership-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working in partnership with Portland Parks & Recreation. The mission of Hoyt Arboretum Friends is to maintain and improve Hoyt Arboretum and its collection for all people through advocacy, resources, awareness and education. Donations to Hoyt Arboretum Friends directly impact species conservation, community science, and accessible recreation for all visitors as well as education programs for youth and adults.

San Mateo County Historical Association

Mission: To inspire wonder and discovery of the cultural and natural history of San Mateo County. The San Mateo County Historical Association started in 1935. Dr Frank Stanger, the first executive director, goals were preserving the county's historical sites, developing an archive for the county's history and creating a museum dedicated to preserving reminders of the county's past. The San Mateo County Historical Association operates three historical sites: the San Mateo County History Museum in Redwood City, the Woodside Store in Woodside, and the Sanchez Adobe in Pacifica. It also runs school programs at the Folger Stable in Woodside. The original goals of the Historical Association have expanded to include providing meaningful learning experiences for the county's residents and guests with special attention devoted to children's programs. Through hands-on experiences, students are much more likely to learn, appreciate, and integrate historical information into their current lives. We also offer an exciting calendar of public programs including workshops, lectures and family days. We invite you to visit the History Museum, Woodside Store, and Sanchez Adobe. The San Mateo County Historial Association is pleased to announce that it has been reaccredited by the American Alliance of Museums. A mark of following professional standards, we have maintained our accreditation since 1972. Currently, less than 5% of museums in the United States are accredited.
