cep ⎮Centre de Politique Européenne is a partner of the cep ⎮Centres for European Policy Network The cep advocates: • a Europe where peoples speak and understand each other, • the strengthening of structures that maintain democracy and the rule of law in Europe, • a free Europe, • the completion of the internal market, • an exercise of power in accordance with the treaties and the principle of subsidiarity, • the lowest possible level of regulation and bureaucracy. Objectives The cep • provides the public with current information and detailed fundamental knowledge on EU proposals, • evaluates EU proposals before their adoption, according to the principles of the market economy, • underlines the economic and legal consequences of these proposals, • formulates practical policy outlines for Europe, • contributes to the transparency of the EU's democratic decision-making process. Method The cep • satisfies the requirements of a non-profit organization, which require it to be independent from any particular interest such as political parties, • analyzes in a systematic and permanent manner the relevant proposals of the EU through different publication formats, • analyzes the legislative process of the European parliament and council, • adopts an interdisciplinary approach, characterized by close cooperation between economists and lawyers from cep Paris, cep Rome, and cep in Germany (Fribourg/Berlin).
