D Acres of New Hampshire

D Acres of NH is a non-profit organic permaculture farm, hostel and educational homestead. We host a variety of well attended workshops, lectures and events throughout the year, including our annual internationally recognized Permaculture Through the Seasons Design Certification Course. We have successfully created a hub for social and multigenerational community interaction through monthly food and music events. Our Mission Statement: D Acres is an educational center that researches, applies and teaches skills of subsistence living and small-scale organic farming. Within a shared living situation, individuals come to respect and share values of interdependence and love of nature. In addition, the organization supports educational activities directed toward improving the quality of life of residents and the community at large.

Cape Cod Lavender Farm

Celebrate the senses! We are a small lavender farm and shop located in Harwich, Massachusetts. Peak bloom occurs June-July and our shop is open Dec-March, with an online store for our far-flung lavender lovers.

Founded and maintained by growers, MAIA produces apple varieties that are available to growers worldwide. Work continues to incorporate disease resistance and other favorable characteristics. Hard cider selections that can be produced in today’s high density growing systems are also in the testing stage. Goals and Activities: - Champion the cause and build a viable membership organization in the Midwest and wherever apples are grown commercially. - Carry out a grower driven, grower involved breeding program with the help of the Ohio State University and other research institutions. - Develop and carry out a marketing program for the varieties developed including nursery stock and the apples. Apple Breeding Objectives: - Reliable and productive cropping. - Fruit qualities acceptable to the modern consumer: size, firmness, store-ability, flavor, unique qualities and texture. - Growing characteristics desirable to the modern grower: disease resistances including fireblight and scab resistances, frost tolerance, tree structure qualities, etc.
