Fluid SA is a world leader in the production of biochar (also named biocarbon or biocoal) from various types of biomass, based on patented technology under which produces heat, coolness and renewable electricity. Biochar is the most important element of the sustainable development of our planet. Up to now, it is the best known method for sequestration of carbon dioxide (CCS). It has been known by a civilization for thousands of years and today is undergoing a renaissance. It is used in agriculture to improve soil quality and as a carrier for fertilizer or feed additive in animal husbandry, in the construction industry, garment industry, food industry, electronics and a wide range of consumer products. At the same time it is a cheap and environmentally friendly way of producing electricity and heat/coolness, even in the form of distributed power sockets. Biochar Fluid is produced from renewable raw materials: plants, wastes after wood production in sawmills or energy willow and miscanthus cultured specifically for the factory of biochar. It has higher calorific value than traditionally used black coal or lignite and has lower exhaust emissions. The plants used for fuel production absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. During processing them on the biochar and subsequent combustion in power plants, the same amount of CO2 as the plants consumed during the growth is released. So that, the balance of CO2 emission is equal to zero. Furthermore, during combustion in Fluid, in comparison with usual coal, there is 15 times less sulfur and 10 times less chlorine released to the atmosphere and after incineration there is 3 times less dust. Fluid SA, within its own research and development department, conducts studies in collaboration with research institutes and entrepreneurs.
