The idea is, in particular, to present and share the main skills and direct experiences related to Euro-Mediterranean projects and start the design of new project proposals that can be submitted under current funding opportunities. The main objectives of the Summer School are: - improve competences and relations of individuals interested in Euro-Mediterranean cooperation - share the Euro-Mediterranean projects experiences among participants and trainers - start the concrete design of proposals under the new Euro-Mediterranean funding instruments TARGET GROUPS: - Representatives of Euro-Mediterranean projects - Public and private officials and experts (junior, intermediate and senior) from Euro-Mediterranean countries EXPECTED RESULTS: - at least 30 participants trained about planning and management of cooperation projects in the framework of Euro-Mediterranean funding opportunities; - at least 4 new project ideas elaborated under the thematic objectives of the new Euro-Mediterranean funding programmes. Euro-Med Development Center for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (EMDC Foundation)

The EMDC “Euro-Mediterranean Development Center for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises’’ – Foundation has been established on the last 17th of June, by the Milan Chamber of Commerce and the two Italian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economic Development as its founding members, and has been officially recognized on the 8th of July. The EMDC counts on two main Italian banks namely INTESA SANPAOLO S.p.A. as a Contributing Board Member and UNICREDIT S.p.A. as a Financial Supporter. The initiative had obtained the official recognition (‘labelling’) of the 43 member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (UpM), as well as of the European Commission and the Arab League, as initiative of specific interest for the promotion of socio-economic development in the Euro-Mediterranean Region (Barcelona, Dec. 2012). Moreover, in the framework of the so-called ‘Deauville-Partnership’, started during the G8 Meeting in 2011, the initiative constitutes one of the main actions proposed by the Italian Government to support socio-economic development through MSMEs in the Euro- Mediterranean Region, and is endorsed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Commission, and the Union for the Mediterranean (UpM). The ultimate goal of the EMDC Foundation is to stimulate job and value creation in the Euro-Med Area, supporting sustainable economic growth through the improvement of the commercial and financial environment for MSMEs development, strengthened business networks and shared access to knowledge and resources in order to enhance access to new markets, financial capital, and shared skills and know-how for human capital development. The networked structure is built through the stipulation of ad-hoc partnership agreements - MoU – with relevant partners in each country. To date, no. 26 EMDC Partner Agencies and Institutions supporting MSMEs have joined the EMDC Network.
