University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP)

UMAP is the acronym for the “University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific”. Founded in 1991, it is a voluntary association of government and non-government representatives of the higher education sector. The general aim of UMAP is for each of the countries and territories in the Asia- Pacific region to achieve a better understanding of the cultural, economic and social systems of the other countries and territories in the region through enhanced cooperation among higher education institutions and increased mobility of university students and staff.

Originally established to provide tutoring support for adults who could not read and write, Project Literacy Central Okanagan Society has evolved to provide literacy support for immigrant families, children and seniors. Project Literacy COS currently works with over 150 volunteers annually to offer one to one tutoring support in English and Math, and to provide early year’s literacy development for children. Project Literacy is entirely funded by grants and donations.

Physical Health Education & Kinesiology Student Association

The Physical Health Education & Kinesiology Student Association (PHEKSA) is a student-run group at Queen's University that is comprised of a Council, Assembly, as well as Honorary and Ordinary members. Our goal is to foster the academic, social, and professional interests for our members through means of promotion and community involvement. PHEKSA has a long tradition of representing PHE and KIN students within the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (SKHS), going back to the first graduating class of 1950. A voting member of the Alma Mater Society (AMS), which is the oldest student association in Canada (established 1858), it has a strong history of supporting students from orientation to graduation. We would also like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee Peoples.
