Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies

The Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies was founded in 2002 by the University of Amsterdam and the Netherlands Institute for War Documentation, which is a part of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. The primary activities of the organization are university teaching and scholarly research in Holocaust and genocide studies. So as to stimulate the continuity of teaching and research in this field, the Center offers an MA program at the University of Amsterdam. Through this interdisciplinary program the organization works toward an integrated view of the Holocaust and other cases of genocide. In addition, the Center faculty contributes to current developments in the research field. Apart from the emphasis on teaching and research, the Center aspires to make a larger audience attentive to the subjects of Holocaust and Genocide. Through public lectures and other activities, the Center provides new views to the present debate on the Holocaust and other cases of Genocide. Such attention is of vital importance, not only in light of remembrance, but also as a warning for tomorrow.

DECARS - Dutch Expertise Centre for Archaeological Remote Sensing

DECARS (Dutch Expertise Centre for Archaeological Remote Sensing) is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2007 in The Netherlands. DECARS aims at promotion of application of archaeological remote sensing, better education and exchange of knowledge. This is done by organizing symposiums and conferences, where people who are interested in or working with remote sensing in archaeology, can meet. As DECARS is a idealistic non-profit initiative, it was transformed into a foundation in April 2010 and since then DECARS is now officially registered in Amsterdam as a non-profit networking organisation. FabLab Maastricht

A FabLab is a foundation managing an open workplace where anyone can create their own 2D or 3D products by using 3D-printers, 3D-scanners, lasercutters, 3D-milling machines etc. Worldwide there are 360 FabLabs and this innovative network is growing fast. At least one day a week you can use the machines and support for free. They offer also training in using the machines and software, and guidance in developing a new product. In collaboration with the chamber of commerce, local government and investment organisations they are regional innovation centres where you can get research and rapid prototyping for a small amount. FabLab Maastricht is specialised in developing new 3D-printers and using new materials like ceramics, biorubber, food and granulate high-engineering bioplastics.
