Shazan Foods Limited

Shazans was created by the Ayyub family in 2000. From very humble beginnings, this hard-working Muslim family based in Preston began making samosas in the kitchen at home to sell to the local community. They had a vision to do 2 things – firstly to develop great tasting, wholesome, authentic Halal Food and secondly to make this food more accessible to everyone in the UK. Since those early days the business has built upon this legacy and stayed true to the original vision. The brand expanded into fresh poultry and red meat products in 2014 and the products were made available for sale through the national retailers. The brand is now number 1 in the UK for fresh products and has very high recognition within Muslim communities. Cofresh Snack Foods originated in Kenya in the 1960’s where Managing Director Priyesh Patel’s father, Dinesh ‘Papa’ Patel, owned and ran a factory making potato crisps and popcorn for local cinemas and shops. In 1974 Dinesh and his wife Savita emigrated to the UK and invested their life savings in a fish & chip shop in Leicester. The fish & chip shop closed down but the couple’s traditional handmade spicy peanuts and green peas – which were cooked in the fryers and packed by hand into small pouches – soon found favour with consumers and retailers alike.
