Federalism In Action

Federalism In Action (FIA), a 501c(3), is an energetic and results-oriented public policy organization – promoting American federalism, liberty, and fresh ideas aimed at limiting government. We seek to restore the proper balance between the federal government and the states – focusing on ways states can truly act as independent sovereigns and come up with local solutions. We equip local lawmakers and empower citizens to engage the imbalance of power imposed from Washington, DC. by providing the intellectual ammunition to inform and inspire coalitions of policymakers, citizen activists, and scholars who are acting to keep government local. Through our various projects and initiatives, we provide research, solutions and messages that arm policy leaders to win tangible victories for citizen rule, solving problems by restoring local control and checking the harmful centralization of government power in Washington. Why does it matter? Decisions are made best closest to home. Our vision is local people making local decisions and solving problems locally.

Centennial Institute

The Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University works to enhance public understanding of the most important issues relating to faith, family, and freedom. As part of this endeavor, the institute focuses its efforts on conducting research, analyzing public policy options, and sponsoring seminars, conferences, and other activities that involve students, faculty, staff, and outside experts. The Institute and all sponsored activities are guided by the University’s strategic objectives. Mission: The Centennial Institute sponsors research, events, and publications to enhance public understanding of the most important issues facing our state and nation. By proclaiming Truth, we aim to foster faith, family, and freedom, teach citizenship, and renew the spirit of 1776. Leadership: Director of the Centennial Institute is Jeff Hunt. Chairman of the Institute is Dr. Donald Sweeting, President of Colorado Christian University.

Energy Efficiency Business Coalition

Energy Efficiency Business Coalition (EEBC) is a membership-supported industry association focused on building a strong energy efficiency industry in Colorado and the Southwest US through policy development and implementation, upholding standards and certifications, and facilitating networking between industry actors. Our members and industry partners include all energy efficiency stakeholders from manufacturers and distributors to program administrators to contractors and educators. We work extensively with investor-owned utilities to help them craft and implement programs and policies that will create significant energy savings, and are increasingly working with municipal and cooperative utilities as well. California Health Benefits Review Program (CHBRP)

California Health Benefits Review Program (CHBRP) provides the California Legislature with timely, independent, and accurate analyses of proposed legislation (bills) that would mandate health insurance benefits (or repeal existing mandates). CHBRP relies heavily on university-based faculty and researchers, and since 2003, has completed reports on more than 90 bills. Each report: • Summarizes scientific evidence regarding the medical effectiveness of clinical interventions relevant to the proposed benefit mandate or repeal, • Estimates the impact on benefit coverage, costs, utilization, and public health. The reports make no recommendations, deferring all policy decision-making to the Legislature. CHBRP is required to complete its reports no later than 60 days after a Legislative committee requests an analysis.

Child Poverty Collaborative

We aim to build and implement a community-driven, data-informed action plan. We are engaging directly with community members and community leaders to gather fresh ideas generated through conversation, reflection, and collaborative planning.
