Muslim Ladies' College

Muslim Ladies'College is known and recognized in Sri Lanka as the premier state educational institution for Muslim Girls. It is located at No 22, Kensington Garden, Colombo 04 . The Ceylon Moor Ladies' Union found a generous benefactor, who is none other than Sir Razik Fareed who was philanthropic to donate his land and a few buildings at Fareed place to reopen the school. The school was officially reopened On the 1st of November 1946 by the Honourable Minister of Education, late Mr CWW Kannangara. The Ceylon Moor Ladies Union Education Committee appointed Mrs Ayesha Rauf as the Principal of MLC. Mrs Nafia Mohideen was appointed as the Manageress. In 1947 a male Board of Advisors was appointed to advise on all financial matters pertaining to the management of the college. Dr Mrs Hajarjhan Mansoor assumed duties as the principal of the school on a directive issued by the Secretary, Ministry of Education in 2011 and implemented various projects to upgrade the standards of the school. Today the alma mater has a student body of 3500 students and 130 teachers serving the school with utmost devotion

Open University of Sri Lanka

The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) is the premier Open and Distance learning institution in Sri Lanka where students can pursue their studies through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) methodologies. Established in 1980, under the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 and OUSL Ordinance No. 1 of 1990, as amended, the OUSL has the same legal and academic status as any other national University in Sri Lanka. According to the Public Administration Circular No. 16/92, dated 13.03.92, issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils & Home Affairs, the degrees awarded by The Open University of Sri Lanka are treated as equivalent to degrees awarded by any other University under the purview of the University Grants Commission

Rajarata University of Sri Lanka  

Rajarata University of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese: රජරට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය, Tamil: ரஜரட்ட பல்கலைக்கழகம், abbreviated RUSL) is a public university located in the historic city of Mihintale, near Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka was established as the eleventh University in Sri Lanka and was opened on 31 January 1996 by President Chandrika Kumaratunga. Over the years, the University has developed to become a centre of excellence in higher education in the North Central Province as well as in Sri Lanka. The academic programs of the RUSL are offered by five faculties namely;Agriculture,Applied Sciences, Management Studies, Medicine and Allied Sciences and Social Sciences and Humanities. The main administrative complex, the Faculties of Applied Sciences, Management Studies and Social Sciences and Humanities are located at Mihintale while the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Medicine and Applied Sciences are located at Puliyankulama and Saliyapura, respectively.
