International Taekwon-Do Federation of South Africa

The International Taekwon-Do Federation South Africa, was created after 22 March 2013 when the previous ITF NGB in South Africa terminated its membership of the ITF Vienna, Austria (under the leadership of Prof. Mas. Ri Yong Son). The aim of the ITFSA is to improve technical standards and the growth of Original ITF Taekwon-Do in South Africa. It aims to do so by creating a democratic, accountable and transparent organisation where every Instructor who owns a registered Dojang will have voting rights on both provincial and national levels. The International Taekwon-Do Federation South Africa is a Non Profit Company duly registered in terms of the Companies Act, 2008, registration number NPC 2013/178596/08 HISTORY OF TAEKWON-DO On April 11th, 1955, Taekwon-Do was the name officially adopted for the martial art developed by General Choi Hong Hi which used elements of the ancient Korean martial art of Taek Kyon and of Shotokan karate, a martial art General Choi had learned while studying in Japan. The philosophical values and the goals of Taekwon-Do are firmly rooted in the traditional moral culture of the Orient. The movements of Taekwon-Do are based on principles of physics, especially Newton's Law. Using the theory "every force has an equal and opposite force", General Choi explains how to generate maximum force by increasing speed and mass during the execution of a movement. Wanting to share the results of his philosophical reflections and his technical experiments, General Choi planned and wrote a unique reference work, the Encyclopedia of Taekwon-Do. In its fifteen volumes, he explained in detail the rules and practices of this art. Always striving for excellence, General Choi presented Taekwon-Do as in a state of continuous evolution, open to changes that would improve its effectiveness. www.itf-tkd.org

Fondation Lance d’Afrique Burundi (Fondation-LAB)

Fondation-LAB is a non-profit organisation focused on social entrepreneurship and women's empowerment in Africa and beyond. We aim to achieve these goals through awareness, consulting, training, mentorship, innovation, and research. These activities enable us to provide opportunities for women to participate and invest in the political and economic Management of their countries. Through capacity building for previously vulnerable and marginalised groups, we can effect positive social change. We specialise in identifying cultural, economic and infrastructure obstacles to women's empowerment, and working with individual women and their communities to overcome these. We believe that social entrepreneurship helps to create more prosperous, peaceful societies and that by enabling and encouraging women to become engaged in more economically productive activities, we can help them to transform the fortunes of their families and communities and contribute to their nation's GDP. In everything we do, we are guided by the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which provide a blueprint for better societies for all people, rural or urban, in Africa or elsewhere. Fondation-LAB is extremely open to collaborating with like-minded individuals and organisations that share our beliefs and vision. Indeed, we recognise that it is only through cooperation with stakeholders at every level that we can achieve tangible success and make a positive, lasting difference in the lives of women and youth. We also address related issues including gender-based violence. Only by overcoming such obstacles – and by involving relatable, peer-group mentors – can we help women to unleash their entrepreneurial potential and achieve a new degree of independence and autonomy. We are committed to enabling self-realisation and being the catalyst of personal and financial growth for women. We believe that these are vital first steps to more vibrant, just and fair communities for all.

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) has been sustainably operating as a non-profit organisation in South Africa since 1977. We are the collective voice of U.S. investment in South Africa and through our elective board of directors and committees, we serve South African/American commerce and industry with our primary focus on U.S. investment in South Africa. As the American Chamber of Commerce we, and our member companies, uphold the values of uncompromising ethics and respect for people and planet.

Afriversity

Afriversity is a not-for-profit organisation set up as a Trust in South Africa. The Trust is working to release existing entrepreneurial potential in Africa through the facilitation of networking, training, mentorship, funding and inspiration on the Afriversity.org website. Afriversity.org website is an inspirational meeting place for entrepreneurs and business people, offering a practical entrepreneurial “toolbox” that combine practical business e-learning, networking, mentorship and fundraising, designed to help and inspire budding entrepreneurs. We call these highly confident individuals “Afripreneurs” - motivated and honed with the skills and drive to create, manage and grow successful businesses. Afriversity’s idea is to provide Afripreneurs with all the necessary resources and contacts giving them the best possible chance of succeeding.
