
Accelerant Venture Capital Fund
Accelerant, an initiative of the Dayton Development Coalition, is seed-stage venture capital fund focused on investments in southwestern Ohio. Its mission is to strengthen the regional economy by driving talent and capital into scalable technology companies. The focus of the fund is to simultaneously earn an attractive return and support entrepreneurial activities in the region which will contribute to the Dayton region’s economic growth.
Investments are in scalable technology companies in markets (Advanced Materials/Advanced Manufacturing, Sensors, Healthcare, IT, Aerospace, and Situational Awareness/Surveillance Systems) that are at least $250M in size. The fund is managed by Accelerant/DDC, with the assistance of an independent advisory board.
The current fund, AFI, is a $9.1 mil 10-year fund which started in 2015 by making investments in 5 companies. Over the next 3 years, the fund expects to fund an additional 12 to 15 companies.
The DRSF fund, which funded 35 companies, is now closed and in its 8th year of 10.
Accelerant provides capital in the form of Convertible Debt to assist entrepreneurs in the implementation of their commercialization strategies. Investments are made as based on milestones reached by the portfolio companies. These seed stage investments are all approved by Accelerant's independent Board of Advisors. Accelerant seeks angel investor and other venture capital funds to co-invest in the new company alongside Accelerant.
