BRIGHT New Leaders for Ohio Schools

BRIGHT is a multi-year effort by the State of Ohio to identify, prepare and place proven leaders as principals in Ohio public schools. It is a unique collaboration between the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Business Roundtable, and the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. BRIGHT is a bold and innovative effort to disrupt the erosion of quality education in its public schools by finding committed, proven leaders to head schools across the state. It is well documented that high performing, successful schools start with exceptional principals, who then hire and develop exceptional teachers who motivate students to achieve to their true potential. Successful leaders beget successful schools.With that maxim in mind, BRIGHT New Leaders for Ohio Schools has been authorized and funded by the Ohio General Assembly as an innovative public-private partnership that will enable extraordinary individuals from different walks of life to spend a year as a BRIGHT Fellow and then immediately assume building leadership in a high-poverty public school in our state – where we need the best and the brightest leaders the most.
